Co-Ownership wins in 2005 CIPFA Awards
Monday 20 June 2005
The CIPFA Public Reporting and Accountability Awards seek to recognise best practice in public reporting in the public sector, and are sponsored by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
Co-Ownership's public reporting and accountability practices were judged to be the most impressive when measured against five criteria: appropriateness for particular audiences; clarity; timeliness; innovation; and success in achieving response from the public and other stakeholders.
Commenting on the good news, Chief Executive Alan Crowe said: "Behind every example of effective communication there has to be real accountability and achievement. We aimed to set a benchmark for good reporting - a standard to challenge ourselves against and to encourage others. Our performance in these awards is a credit to the energy and commitment of both Board and staff."
"We are proud and delighted to win the CIPFA award for our 2004 annual report and the co-ordinated programme of activities and initiatives we undertook to engage and value the interest of our diverse stakeholder groups."
The presentation was made on 14 June 2005 at the Manchester International Convention Centre. Carol Shields, Co-Ownership's Finance Director, accepted the award from CIPFA President Mike Barnes and judges Rodger Hughes of PricewaterhouseCoopers and David Walker of The Guardian.
