Our focus here is on making a positive impact on the community, which includes charitable support. Our staff select a chosen charity partner, which is currently NI Children’s Hospice. Staff are involved in regular fundraising for their selected charity. Events have included a relay team in the Belfast City Marathon and regular coffee mornings and Bake Sales. Each Christmas they also support the Barnardo’s Christmas Gift Appeal.
Staff often make a range of delciscous cakes and buns for the company coffee morning, with all proceeds going to NI Childrens Hospice. Can you change the image to this one (sorry its just the formatting)
Every year the staff from Co-Ownership donate presents to the Barnardos Gift Appeal, Michelle from Barnardos says, ” Christmas is a very emotional time a lot of us particularly for those who are coping with the sudden death of a loved one. By giving your gifts you have supported families who other would’ve had little”.
In 2017 we launched a social fund. With a budget of £12,000, the social fund is intended to support projects which make a positive social impact in the lives of individuals, local neighbourhoods, or communities. Funding was open to constituted organisations which are interested in working with and receiving funding from Co-Ownership Housing to deliver a project in one of the following areas:
- Helping regenerate, rebuild, and revitalise neighbourhoods and communities
- Supporting elderly or disabled people
- Providing advice and educational services to promote either financial capability and inclusion, energy efficiency or biodiversity in the community
The social fund builds on Co-Ownership’s commitment to responsible business and working for social good.
