Co-Ownership’s 2019/2020 Charity

Each year in Co-Ownership, staff are given the opportunity to choose the charity which they would like to support for the year ahead and in 2019 staff voted to support PIPS.

PIPS (Public Initiative for Prevention of Suicide and Self Harm) provide a vital service in the community and offer a lifeline to those in need. They provide support to individuals who are considering ending their lives and support families and friends who have been touched by suicide. As the charity receives no government funding, they rely solely on charitable donations to enable them to keep providing this vital service.

The Fundraising Committee organised a schedule of events for the year including raffles; coffee mornings; book sales; dress down days and a Big Lunch event and as a result of the support and generosity of staff, we managed to break our target of £2,000. As part of our Corporate Responsibility strategy the organisation pledges to match funds raised up to a maximum of £2,000 which meant that we were able to present PIPS a cheque for £4,155.73.

Given the impact of Covid 19 on many services and charitable donations, the funds were gratefully received and will be used towards helping to sustain the invaluable service which PIPS provides.

Following our donation, we received a thank you letter from PIPS which said;

“As PIPS receive no government funding this donation will allow us to help those suffering from poor mental health. It is appreciated now more than ever with the current pandemic taking place which seen donations fall massively for PIPS”

It is encouraging for staff to see how their efforts can make such a difference to charities and motivates us to continue our fundraising activities
